“Cyclone Power Five?” Let’s Be Real

Why fancy buzzwords can sink your marketing

You’re in a store looking for a new washing machine, and you see one advertised with “Cyclone Power Five Technology.” It sounds impressive, but what does it even mean? Most people will shrug and move on.

The truth? Customers care more about results than techy features.

Here’s how to keep your messaging grounded:

  1. Highlight Real Benefits: Replace feature-driven language with relatable outcomes. “Your clothes, cleaner and faster” beats “cyclone power” any day.

  2. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify: Overly complicated messaging alienates. People don’t need a 52-week game plan at the gym before they’ve bought; they need to know they’ll feel great and be able to keep up with their kids.

  3. Inject Personality: Marketing can be fun and still be effective. Show your brand’s human side - it’s memorable and trustworthy.

So, ditch the jargon. Next time you want to highlight a product’s strength, ask yourself: is it clear, relatable, and does it meet their want for simplicity?
